Friend answered, "Build the Church in you..."

Simple tips for Stainless Steel Terminology...
Have you ever thought of getting yourself a stainless steel product but are confused with which one to choose/buy?
Well, stainless steel needs a minimum of 10.5% or 11% chromium content in order to achieve its stainless, rust-free status.
When you walk into a shop full of stainless steel products, make sure the salesperson knows about 18/0, 18/8, 18/10.
18/0 - 18% of Chromium and 0% of Nickel
18/8 - 18% of Chromium and 8% of Nickel, equivalent to Type 304
18/10 - 18% of Chromium and 10% of Nickel, equivalent to Type 316
Why Nickel? Nickel will actually enhance the corrosion resistance of the staninless steel and I always feel that it makes the stainless steel shinier and less magnetic. So, theoretically speaking, stainless steel with higher content of Nickel is a better one.
Bring a piece of fridge magnet with you if you are shopping for your stainless steel...:-) Many companies always claimed that they are using 18/10 S/S...well, the magnet cannot lie. If it sticks easily, you roughly could gauge the content of Nickel in it.
Of course, the price of a piece of S/S Cookware might also be determined by many other factors such as thickness, handle type etc. Just ask! ask! ask!

LIMA 2011
Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2011, kicked off on the 6.12.2011 and will be opened for public starting today and tomorrow.
Visitors who are interested, do plan your trip earlier. If you have visited Langkawi before, you sure know that we hardly experience any traffic jam here, unfortunately...it is not the case during LIMA.
Touristy areas will be packed.
The roads around the Exhibition Hall will be jammed as well.
And guess what...Langkawi is scorching hot right now, watch out for dehydration.
Other than that, enjoy your LIMA 2011.

Langkawi Weather Update - Nov 11
Well...Nov 2011.
Well...the weather....
It is so unpredictable basically.
Really nice weather in the morning and raining like cats and dogs in the evening....the contrast makes all forecasts purposeless.
I say just forget about the weather and let your luck in charge
What do you say? :)

Price War of Ferrero Rocher T-30
This is the fun of doing business in Langkawi.
You never know when the price will take a deep plunge, well I don't think I should reveal our cost again but the retail price of RM21.50 for Ferrero Rocher is just crazy.
If you want to buy Ferrero Rocher, now is the best time.

Wine is a personal preference....
When we first started the alcohol business, it was really a torture to try to understand so many different kind of alcohols and wines. I particularly find it challenging and yet stressful learning about wines. It was a nightmare trying to purchase wines for the shop, let alone trying to sell to our customers.
From the very beginning, we know that products knowledge are crucial but after many not so fruitful learning experience from our suppliers, we decided to help ourselves instead. For many years now, we tasted, we read, share and continue to learn from suppliers who are good (not that many to be honest) but we learn the most from sharing with our customers.
To me, nothing is more satisfying than selecting the 'correct' wines for our customers. It is not just about trying to sell..sell...SELL....
When our customers walk into our wines section without any knowledge, it is our duty to help them selecting the "correct" wines. I don't usually begin with,
"How much is your budget?" (Many salesperson will try to upsell their wines if you do not know a thing about wine)
instead..........TASTES......
Sweet, Dry, High Tannin...the very BASIC.....
We can go on and on to explain to you how great the wines is but if you do not enjoy the wines, then it is not a good wine at least to you. So what if it is a great Chateau, Premier Cru, Special Edition, great vintage...all these will be ZERO if they do not match your palate....
Wine is a personal preference to be honest. Yes...it tastes "difference" with some knowledge about wines but afterall, it is you who know if you like it. And remember, do not let others tell you otherwise.

Langkawi Weather Update - Sept 11 (1)
The spell of rain kicked in again since last night.
It was pretty fair weather throughout the week, except for a bit of haze on a couple of days. The rain is probably here to clear out the haze.
This hazy weather has caused people suffering from sore throat, fever, flu, cough etc.
Just be very careful but as for now, it is haze free...with lots of water of course...:-)

Price War of Benedictine DOM
If you happen to walk into an alcohol shop on the island and paying a bottle of 1L DOM for RM68.00, do have mercy and stop complaining or negotiating the price further. It is the cost that we are getting from our supplier here in Langkawi and even if you are paying slightly more than RM68.00 (Well...certain shop might be selling at RM70 or RM72 still), you are not making much loss and the shop deserves a decent profit. It is just ridiculous when everyone is trying to snatch a piece of market share by using DOM as bait.
We do not agree with this method but there is nothing we can do when everyone is doing the same. How I wish the owner of Benedictine DOM could read this message and put a stop to all these messes.
There is a dilemma of being a retailer, selling duty free items here in Langkawi.
If you sell slightly more expensive, customers complaint about being ripped off...
If you sell cheap, customers question about the genuineness of the products....
I personally do not bother about such complaints because I believe that a bright customer with the right maturity would have made the right buying decision. And he/she does not have to bad mouthing about the product or company.

Langkawi Weather Update - Sept 11
The weather was really crazy before Hari Raya Puasa.
Rained for almost one week every minute and second and it only stopped on the 30th of August.
The weather is just nice now.
The one week school holiday has come to an end and Langkawi will be back to its normal serenity.
Selamat Hari Raya and Happy Independence Day

Apology...
Haven't been updating this blog for a while as I guess we were still quite upset about the vanishing of our previous blog cum 'effort' but we will put that behind and start writing again. Our purpose hasn't changed, that is to share what we know and to help our readers with their buying decision.
We want to give back to the community and we will start from here...:)

Langkawi Weather Update - June
It is a better mix of very fine weather and rains now. Still a long way to rainy season but at least it is now pleasantly livable...:-)
A TV program shows drought that has been hitting China in recent years and people are crying for water. The show predicts India and China will eventually face an impactful water crisis if the countries continue to grow at such a rapid rate. Both might have to fight for the right for certain water resources in the future and I was thinking why are we complaining about too much rains when there are people dreaming to be fed with little water everyday?
We are very blessed to be rained...........:-) And be contented.

We are back....!!! New blog Address : www.wiralgk.blogspot.com
We have no idea why our blog was scrapped.
But we thought maybe we had used too many info from other sources. Could that be the reasons? Can someone clarify this?
Whatever it is, we will be more careful from now on...
It wasn't our intention to "steal" your IP. We thought it would make you more good than bad as we were actually promoting your brands and perhaps ideas.
Whatever it is, we still hope that "blogger" could explain to us why were we being scrapped...
Thanks guys who were with us previously....and we are back! :)
